Overview

Shuriken adds a projectile when you activate your Primary skill. It can supply a separate ranged hit to a loadout, but its stock and recharge rules prevent it from acting as an unlimited second Primary attack.

The listed effect

At one copy, a shuriken deals 400% base damage. You can hold up to three shurikens, and they reload over ten seconds. Activating your Primary provides the opportunity to throw one while stock is available.

This is a Primary-activation trigger rather than a general promise of a shuriken from every hit. Read your selected attack rhythm and the available stock. A fast Primary can use the stored throws quickly without making the ten-second reload disappear.

Additional copies change damage and stock

Each additional copy adds 100% base damage and one stored shuriken. Two copies therefore list 500% damage with four stock; three list 600% with five stock.

The increased stock can support a longer sequence before reload. It is not the same as shorter recharge, and it does not strengthen every damage component of the Survivor's Primary. Keep that separate projectile in the item comparison.

Check the loadout's missing function

A loadout that needs an additional ranged hit can use Shuriken differently from one already producing many ranged attacks. A projectile still has to connect with the intended target, and it does not remove the need for position or aim.

The useful question is what happens during the Primary actions you already perform. If you rarely activate that slot or routinely spend the stored projectiles on minor targets, the item may not support the priority encounter you expected.

Heavy-hit items need their own check

Kjaro's Band and Runald's Band have a listed condition of a hit dealing more than 400% damage. Shuriken's own damage changes with stacks and the current inventory, so check the actual qualifying hit rather than assuming every first-copy throw triggers a Band.

The Band must also be ready. Extra shuriken stock cannot turn its fixed recharge into an effect on every consecutive projectile. Crowbar adds another separate condition involving target health before the hit.

Pickup and scrap considerations

Keep Shuriken when the extra Primary-triggered projectile improves a repeated action or addresses a ranged-damage gap. Compare another copy with movement or recovery if those functions are still missing.

If a build specifically reserves a heavy-hit item trigger for a deliberate skill, inspect which hits are using that trigger rather than relying on an old generic item ranking. The item overview explains this trigger-first approach. This entry records source values and conditional reasoning; no in-game proc test or universal Survivor recommendation is claimed.
