Choose and configure BepInExPack
Use the package for the job described below; practical test steps are recommendations, not reported game tests.
BepInExPack is the Risk of Rain 2 distribution of the BepInEx plugin framework. A mod manager can resolve it as a dependency. It loads plugins; it does not add an item, survivor or save button by itself. The package README explains the framework and folder layout.
Let the manager keep the dependency set together
For a managed setup, install the package through r2modman. Its declared dependencies include game-specific patches and loader support packages. Removing a library simply because it has no visible menu feature can break the plugin that requested it.
The requirement versions below are the declared package references captured from the Required page. They are not a recommendation to downgrade newer dependencies in a working profile.
Understand the manual layout before copying files
For the README’s manual Windows procedure, move the contents of the archive’s inner BepInExPack folder into the game folder: winhttp.dll sits beside RiskOfRain2.exe. Normal plugins belong in BepInEx/plugins; patchers belong in BepInEx/patchers only when their author instructs it. Configuration files use BepInEx/config.
Keep managed and manual troubleshooting separate. Check for a second installation when disabling a profile package appears to make no difference. Record the launch route and inspect the loader log before concluding that an individual mod is missing.
Why 5.4.2122 matters
The author’s changelog says 5.4.2122 hardcodes the Risk of Rain 2 preloader entry point, addressing old configuration values that could survive manager updates. It does not certify every plugin for the October 2026 game update. Continue with the profile setup guide and each plugin’s own requirements.
Original package evidence
Checked October 13, 2026: bbepis/BepInExPack README, declared requirements, release versions and upload dates, author changelog, and source repository and licence.
Evidence limit
Package names, release dates and dependency declarations were checked against author Thunderstore pages on October 13, 2026. Features, fixes and multiplayer scope are author statements. This site did not launch the game, test a modded lobby, resume a save or verify all DLC combinations; testedVersions is intentionally empty.
Declared requirements
Dependency versions are author package references captured for this release. Let the manager resolve its dependency graph; these values are not instructions to downgrade a working profile.

Install and check the feature
Run one small profile first, then add packages only after verifying the behavior you need.
Use a separate profile
Create or duplicate a Risk of Rain 2 profile in r2modman. Keep a working baseline and note the game/storefront selected.

- Hardcoded the Risk of Rain 2 preloader entry point to avoid stale entry-point configuration surviving manager updates.
- Prevented remaining old plugin DLLs from being loaded by the chainloader.
Read the source repository and bundled licence notices before reuse; installing a package is separate from redistributing it.

Questions about BepInExPack
Read the author’s current instructions if a newer release changes these details.
Why is BepInEx installed if I only chose a UI mod?
Many UI plugins need the framework to load. It is a dependency rather than a visible UI feature.
Partially verifiedDoes every player need BepInEx?
Where do ordinary plugin DLLs belong?
Report a reproducible package problem

Include the reproducible setup
Record game/storefront, package version, dependency list and the smallest profile that reproduces the problem. Attach the relevant loader log when the author requests it.
